Alan Rickman
I

His
death is having a major effect on me.
I’m
sure that you all know him for his role in Harry Potter.
He
was brilliant @ playing professor Snape who I had a bit of a crush on.
This
is my tribute to Alan Rickman.
You

Alan Rickman was 8 years old.

younger brother & a younger sister.

private ceremony in New York after being together for 47 years, They had been
together since 1965. He didn’t have any children even though he stated he would

Interesting
information about Alan Rickman
Harry potter
related information:
He Loved a Good
Fart Joke.
Alan Rickman &
Sir Michael Gambon once pranked Daniel Radcliffe while filming Harry Potter and
Prisoner of Azkaban by putting a fart machine in a sleeping bag he was using
for a scene.
Only Alan knew his
character’s fate before the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”
because Rowling told him.
He Didn’t Read the
Harry Potter Books
Rickman Had Some
inside Harry Potter Knowledge
“Jo Rowling gave me
1 piece of information, it wasn’t even a fact – I promised I would never
share it and I never will- which made me know that whatever happened, I had to
drive down two roads at the same time with this character, until all the facts
emerged. So I knew there was ambiguity.”
Was
J.K. Rowling's personal favorite to play Severus Snape.
4.
He Almost Wasn’t Snape
It’s
common knowledge that Alan Rickman was author J.K. Rowling‘s first choice to play Severus Snape. In fact, she has even
mentioned that she envisioned the actor while writing the character. However,
that dream almost never materialized. Warner
Brothers preferred Tim Roth for the role and only agreed to cast Rickman after Roth backed out in order to
star in Planet of the Apes.
5.
But Rickman Was the Perfect Choice
It’s
hard to imagine anyone else as Snape. During the filming of Harry Potter
and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Rowling revealed to Rickman that Snape was in
love with Lilly Potter which informed his character’s actions and
motivations. Rowling later explained that Rickman “needed to
understand… where this bitterness towards this boy, who’s living proof of
her preference for another man, came from.”
8.
He Didn’t Read The Harry Potter Books
You
can blame Michael Gambon for spilling the beans. The established actor, who
plays Dumbledore in 5 of the films, stated in an interview back in 2009 that
neither himself, Rickman nor Ralph
Fienneshave read the Harry Potter books. It’s amazing to see the acting job
that Rickman does with the character, especially knowing that most of his
inspiration comes from the script and only small pieces of information he
picked up from talks with J.K. Rowling.
When
asked the justification as to why he hadn’t read the books, Michael Gambon
stated “You’d
get upset about all the scenes it’s missing from the book wouldn’t
you?…No point in reading the books because you’re playing with [screenwriter]
Steve Klove’s words.”
He
suffered from crippling stage fright
He
loved birds.
“I’m
fascinated watching a flock of birds,” he told astrophysicist Neil deGrasse
Tyson in a 2012 interview on the show StarTalk. “What going on there? How
do they know they’re with more of them anyway?”
He
said he “never” watches himself on screen.
“I
think you start to edit yourself,” he told Empire.
5.
Rickman Loved The ‘Risk Factor’
There
is no doubting that Rickman has his fair share of experience with directing and
performing in live theater. Rickman stated that one of the biggest draws of his
profession is the ability to feel like you are always taking a risk. Rickman
went onto state “I like feeling a bit unsafe, and theater, of course, is
deadly.” I suppose when you have gotten used to seeing a live audience
your entire life, the idea of having to put on the cloak and be Snape as you
chill with Harry Potter doesn’t sound quite as intimidating.
He
failed his California
driving test @ one point for "driving to cautiously through a green
light"
He
was a graphic designer and didn’t start acting until he was almost 30
He Was Scared of Guns
It
was his 1st time shooting a gun, so you can see him grimace and
blink every time he fires.
While
filming Die Hard, Alan Rickman had a nasty habit of flinching anytime he
shot a gun. Because of this, director John McTiernan had to work
around Rickman’s reactions. However, if you watch closely during the scene
where Hans Gruber shoots Takagi, you can still see Rickman wince when he fires
his weapon.

Quotes
from Alan Rickman
No,
life has shifting horizons so you might as well keep swimming."
"I don't see
any of [my roles] as one word. It doesn't matter what I'm playing: it's not one
word, and I think any actor would say the same."
Actors
are agents of change. A film, a piece of theater, a piece of music, or a book
can make a difference. It can change the world.
And
it's a human need to be told stories. The more we're governed by idiots and
have no control over our destinies, the more we need to tell stories to each
other about who we are, why we are, where we come from, and what might be
possible.
I
think there should be laughs in everything. Sometimes, it's a slammed door, a
pie in the face or just a recognition of our frailties.
If
only life could be a little more tender and art a little more robust.
The
more we're governed by idiots and have no control over our destinies, the more
we need to tell stories to each other about who we are, why we are, where we
come from, and what might be possible. Or, what's impossible? What's a fantasy?
I've
never been able to plan my life. I just lurch from indecision to indecision.
“There
was an inevitability about my being an actor since about the age of 7, but
there were other roads that had to be traveled first.”
3
children have become adults since a phone call with Jo Rowling, containing 1
small clue, persuaded me that there was more to Snape than an unchanging
costume, and that even though only three of the books were out at that time,
she held the entire massive but delicate narrative in the surest of hands.
It
would be wonderful to think that the future is unknown and sort of surprising.
I
think there's some connection between absolute discipline and absolute freedom.
I
am the character you are not supposed to like.
I
suppose with any good writing and interesting characters, you can have that
awfully overused word: a journey.
Talent
is an accident of genes - and a responsibility.
I
do take my work seriously and the way to do that is not to take yourself too
seriously.
My
idea of a real treat is Magic
Mountain without standing
in line
If
people want to know who I am, it is all in the work.
If
you could build a house on a trampoline, that would suit me fine.
The
point about a great story is that it's got a beginning, a middle and end.
I'm
still living the life where you get home & open the fridge and there's half
a pot of yogurt & a half a can of flat Coca-Cola.
Unless
we tell stories about ourselves, which is all that theater is, we're in deep
trouble.
There's
a voice inside you that tells you what you should do.
Maverick
is a word which appeals to me more than misfit. Maverick is active, misfit is
passive.
I
knew with Snape I was working as a double agent, as it turns out, and a very
good one at that.
It's
a nightmare to sit and watch a film that I'm in. There's a horrible
inescapability to it.
I
want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure.
Nothing
gives me as much pleasure as travelling. I love getting on trains and boats and
planes.
“
You could ask any actor about their early days, and I think you know — if you
decide you’re going to do it, and then you train and you’ve committed — you
know there are going to be long periods out of work. And I wasn’t different
than anybody else. I know there are some lucky young actors now, they get made
a star in a minute, and you worry a little for the moment when that gets
snatched away. It’s a different world now. I don’t remember it now, but I’m
sure the difficult moments made me stronger, or at least that’s what I’ve
trained myself to think." — Rickman on starting out as an actor,TheLeakyCauldron.org (June 2015)

reality is that I've been all over the shop in terms of characters. Some people
are never going to escape Sherlock Holmes, or the films the pervade the public
consciousness. I think you have to be grateful for that.” — Rickman on

Quotes
from Alan Rickman as Severus Snape
Young Severus Snape to Lilly after she’s is called a freak by
her sister petunia: She's just jealous. That she's ordinary, and you're
special.
Snape to Harry when he has humiliated him: Pity. Clearly, fame
isn't everything, is it, Mr. Potter?
Professor Snape: That is the second time you
have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Tell me, are you incapable of restraining
yourself, or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all?
Severus Snape: [watches a touching memory
between Harry and Sirius] I may vomit. This one is so funny. Mean but quite hilarious!
I
hope that you have all enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it, tears
and all.
